We’re proud to call it yours.

Founder Jake Ferguson’s 20-year construction career began on the ground—pushing a broom on large commercial sites—and progressed through hands-on roles, including building and installing custom millwork, before moving into senior positions overseeing large-scale residential renovations. Along the way, he earned his Red Seal in carpentry and most recently served as Director of Construction at a multidisciplinary architecture firm with in-house interior design and construction teams. That experience sharpened his ability to collaborate across disciplines and deliver complex, design-driven projects. In launching Winona Build, Jake brings not only deep technical experience and a personal, hands-on approach, but also a highly trusted network of skilled subtrades—relationships built over years of working together with integrity. He’s a builder who understands both the practical demands of construction and the human side of the process: clear communication, honest expectations, and making people feel heard every step of the way.

Building Winona

Winona comes from the Dakota word Winúŋna, meaning “firstborn daughter”—a symbol of responsibility, continuity, and the future. The name is an homage to what lies ahead, and to the responsibility we feel—personally and professionally—to build with care and leave something lasting.
